RENEWAL - CONTROL TRAFFIC WITH STOP SLOW BAT

This one day course is designed for currently accredited traffic controllers in Queensland who are seeking to renew their accreditation. The program provides a refresh of essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively control traffic using a stop-slow bat, in alignment with current legislation and Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) requirements.
To enrol in this course, participants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a current or recently expired TMR-issued Traffic Controller accreditation
- Have completed a minimum of 32 hours of stop/slow traffic control in the past 12 months
- Submit a TMR COIP (Confirmation of Industry Placement) form signed by an employer or supervisor
Successful participants will receive Statements of Attainment for the following units:
- RIIWHS205E – Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
- RIIWHS201E – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
- RIICOM201E – Communicate in the workplace

Content:
Understand the legal responsibilities and regulatory requirements of a traffic controller.
Identify and manage risks associated with live traffic environments.
Learn to prepare and plan effectively before controlling traffic on-site.
Review standard processes for managing traffic flow using stop-slow techniques.
Understand the correct placement, use, and removal of signage when not in operation.
Learn how to report and manage incidents appropriately in the workplace.
Apply worksite procedures to maintain safety for both workers and the public.
Part 1 – In-House Training
- Classroom Delivery.
- Theory based learning with active participation and discussion.
- Written Assessment & Practical Exercises.
- Includes knowledge testing and simulated traffic control scenarios.
- Statement of Attainment.
- Issued upon successful completion of the theory component.
Part 2 – Accreditation Requirements
Upon successful course completion (theory + practical), you will be required to:
- Complete the F4115 Traffic Controller Accreditation Application.
- A mandatory form for renewal submitted to TMR.
- Submit Supporting Documentation.
- Including identification, completed forms, and evidence of experience.
- Apply to TMR for Renewal.
- Traffic Controller accreditation in Queensland is valid for 3 years and must be renewed prior to expiry.
