CERTIFICATE IV IN WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY

This nationally accredited qualification is suitable for people working in a Work Health and Safety (WHS) role who work to provide leadership and guidance to others and have some limited responsibility for the output of others. Participants will learn how to identify and consult Work Health and Safety issues and apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable Work Health and Safety problems.

This qualification is the minimum requirement recommended by industry for those seeking employment as a WHS Manager, advisor or safety officer. This course was previously known as Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).

Job titles relevant to this course may include:

Work Health and Safety Coordinator, Work Health and Safety Officer, and Work Health and Safety Representative.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no restrictions on entry to this course however participants are required to have sufficient numeracyand literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction for: Referencing and understanding legislation, standards and codes of practice; consulting with workers and employers on safety issues; and preparing workplace health and safety reports.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

All students will be offered the opportunity to participate in a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process if they believe that they have suitable skills and knowledge through work experience, formal and informal training and / or general life experiences.
